We were asked to give our 5 Top Tips for helping the High Street

1. Know Your Customer Base
Use demographic insight to understand who lives, works, and shops locally, ensuring the High Street offer genuinely reflects community needs and spending power.

2. Use Footfall Data Strategically
Analyse footfall by hour and day to optimise opening times, staffing, events, and investment, creating a High Street that matches real patterns of activity.

3. Strengthen Retailer Adjacencies
Cluster complementary retailers to encourage cross‑shopping, improve customer flow, and create a coherent commercial environment that supports longer dwell time.

4. Ensure Retailer–Demographic Fit
Match retailers to local demand using catchment data, ensuring the mix feels relevant, sustainable, and aligned with the community’s lifestyle and expectations.

6. Invest Where Impact Is Highest
Target investment using data to prioritise areas with strong potential, improving public realm, accessibility, and confidence for both customers and businesses.
